Are these two stations shooter shops?
who is #1 if any of the two above?

SF is VERY hard to get into. The market is saturated with stringers...lots of ex-TV news shooters who hopped aboard the dot-com craze last decade and are now back looking for work now that the dot-com craze crashed. Many stringers have been "stringing" for several years, still waiting to get hired full-time.

Plus, lots of shooters are DYING to move to California and in particular SF...so they come here w/o jobs with hopes of hooking up. People come here and retire here--many shooters have been around for 20-plus years.

Don't mean to sound discouraging...but such is life here in SF.

PS--the same holds true for reporters, editors and writers. SF is a destination market & city. People don't leave here.

What do you mean by "shooters shop"? If you're talking about NPPA then the answer is no. If you're really into that then you probably won't be happy here. What market are you coming from? If you know someone at either of the stations then that always helps if you're trying to break into the market. There are a lot of freelancers. I believe that KNTV has a posting on their website for freelance photographer. I know that's not one of the stations you asked about but it's a good way to break into the market and get to know people here. Good luck.
