Does anyone know exactly how to use a Set-up card for a DVC Pro Camera? I want to know how to tweak my camera to give it a "preferred look" and store it to the card, then be able to return my camera back to it's default setting. I want the "look" to only be on the card.

Does anyone know how to specificly do this? Also, when I tweak the camera, do I do it through the set-up card menu, or do I do it normally through the regular menus then go to the card menu to write the info?

I am very concerned about losing the look my camera puts out now. Is there a site that tells you step by step how to do this? My manual simply shows you how to read, write, and format, not how to tweak and store.

Lastly, can you store more than one "look" on one card?

Thanks guys,
Dan

link (http://members.tripod.com/~Camera_Dave/noframe.htm)

The link above has some info on camera set-ups. After messing around a little bit ourselves we got out Betacam set-ups from Roger Macie at Macie Video in Boston. He's regarded as the best, and worth every penny. I can't answer any of your questions regarding DVC-Pro, since I've never set one up myself, but you shouldn't have to worry about losing the factory preset. If you overwrite it I'm sure there's a way to restore it. Do you have a manual? Good luck.

You need to first identify both the DVCPro camera make/model and the software version it's running. There are several menu levels to navigate, and you will need access to the engineering menu. It's pretty simple from there.

LowLt,
Have you done this before. I am getting a set-up card in the mail soon. I have called tech support on this and they don't give me a straight answer. I need to know step by step how to change my "look" then be able to return my camera to it's original settings. (default).

Is there a default? By the way... I have been through quite a few menus in my camera. There are like three different menus you can visit. One is the basic. The other is when you hold down both the shift and page while switching to set. The other an engineer told me once over the phone... but I forget how to access it. It is the one that has all the pages like 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, etc. I wonder if that is the page I need.

Anyway, if you have done this before, I need your help if you don't mind.

By the way, how do you access the engineering menu?

Thanks for you help,
Dan

I would recomend sending the camera to Roger to get it set-up properly. It is damn near impossible to properly set up a camera unless you know what you are doing, which by the looks of it since you are asking how to save settings on a set-up card, you probably don't need to be screwing with the settings on the camera. No offense intended. ;)

But if you get something screwy looking, you can always just do a reset in the menu and you're back to square one.

LowLt or anyone,
Do you know how to do this? Is there a site that shows you step by step? By the way, I was sent a spec sheet with specific settings for people going for a certain "look."

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/AJD700.PDF

Check it out. It shows you what to set everything at for "film look," "sports look," etc. But it didn't say how to actually do it and be able to get your default settings back.

Thanks,
Dan

the problem is they Panasonic tech support sent it to me as an attachment. So I don't know how to get it on here. See if this works. Click on this and it will take you to the letter Tech sent me. Click on the attachment and hopefully it will work.

If this doen't work I don't know how to send it.

If that one did the same thing email me your address and I will send it to you directly.

My address:
danesch@hotmail.com

Good luck...

By the way. I searched for set-up cards on the internet. I found a knock-off for half the price. The guy sent it to me to test it. If it works I will post it on this site. A normal set-up card goes for about $95.

The Panasonic DVCPro's have three menu levels, depending on the software. Access the engineering menu by holding both the SHIFT/ITEM button and the UP button, then switch to menu mode. Make your changes and save them to your set-up card. Select MENU INIT. at the DATA RESET page to return to factory defaults.
Make sure you have a good monitor, a vectorscope and a copy of the Panasonic Digital Menus manual for your model. The manual clearly explains every menu choice available for your camera.

Thanks LowLt,
I successfully did it yesterday. I plan on starting another thread to ask people if they have ever used Panasonic's "Film Look" settings that they recommend. Have you? I changed the menu settings according to their specs and up close everything looks fine, (a little soft for my taste) but on wide shots and extreme wides, or anything with alot of contrast (example: washed out sky but dark ground) it is extremely out of focus. I thought it was my backfocus at first, but nope.

Do you know what this problem could be?

If you e-mail me the spec sheet, I'll look it over.

LowLt,
I started another thread in the freelance page. I have the spec sheet listed. (Panasonic's recommendations for the "film look")
