This is one of my favorite quotes. I was reminded of it this morning and every now and then it's helpful to toss it back out there to help keep this job in perspective.
"I don't play for critics and I don't play for other musicians. I play for my audience."
Louis Armstrong

I thrive on humor to keep me going in this crazy biz. David Brinkley is owner of my favorite media-related quote (see my sig below), but Daniel Shorr of NPR had another really great quote about five or six years ago:

"Media bashing's become a popular sport. Let us forgive us our press passes."

Best,
Kim.

Two Quotes, the first is from a framed wall hanging in my first ND's office:

"ACTION - REACTION,
MOTION - EMOTION,
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU SAY,
THE GOOD STUFF GOES UP TOP,
ALL THE REST IS SHOW BIZ."

Second from a radio guy in Pittsburgh I put on TV for a couple years.

"THERE IS NO WGOD, KGOD IS HARDER TO FIND...EVERY PLACE SUCKS!"

Another one to live by, Thomas More not withstanding, is "indignatio principis mors est."

Not sure who said it, but it seems to fit this silly business we're all in.

"When all is said and done, an awful lot more is said than done"

I always thought Roger Waters said it best in the song "Nobody Home" from "The Wall"

Thomas Gray should be hailed as the father of Television News for writing this quote back in the 1700s:

"Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."

These are two I like:

If two men agree on everything, you may be sure that one of them is doing the thinking.
Lyndon B. Johnson

Money frees you from doing things you dislike. Since I dislike doing nearly everything, money is handy.
