Whats the word with this station? PAY, MORALE, CITY

Pay: around 27,000 to start.

Morale: some are happy, others are not. But isn't it that way with every station?

City: The most awesome city in the entire country if you like the outdoors. The Wasatch Mountains are a 15 minute drive from downtown. If you're a skier, Salt Lake is Nirvana with the resorts avaraging over 500 inches of snow per season. Plus the mountain biking, rock-climbing and hiking are superb. Also, you're just a few hours drive from the southern desert where you can go canyoneering, exploring and camping.

I may not ever leave Salt Lake for this reason.

Worked there a couple years ago. Good people, decent equipment (beta sx), small building, take home truck unlikeley. when I was there most of the reporters were pretty good. a lot of new reporters now. No week day afternoon shows. just a 9pm and morning shows. SLC is a great place if you like the outdoors. (great skiing/riding 30 min away) Pay not so great in SLC.

The station may be up for sale soon. Here is an excerpt I found that was published a few days ago.

Murdoch’s Station Break
Fox Station Group may sell small-market outlets

By John M. Higgins -- Broadcasting & Cable, 9/19/2005

News Corp. is considering the sale of all its smaller stations—representing a quarter of its station portfolio—for as much as $800 million, according to people familiar with the situation. Such a deal would relieve News Corp. of assets that aren’t crucial to its high-margin, big-reach strategy, cut down on overhead, and simplify its operations.

The targets are all Fox O&Os outside the top 25 markets. But “small” by News Corp.’s standards doesn’t mean they’re all small towns. Included in the potential sale: Kansas City, Mo. (the 31st-largest TV market), Milwaukee (No. 32) and Salt Lake City (36). One is minor: Gainesville, Fla., the 162nd-largest.

Salt Lake City is on the list.
