We just had a staff meeting at the Tribune owned WB station in St. Louis to let us know Tribune has decided to cancel the News at the WB affliates in San Diego and Philadelphia. Apparently the NBC o&o's will take over the operations. Not sure how many that will affect...but hoping for best to all of you.

Yes, this is true. We (the philly wb) were told this afternoon. It came as a shock to everyone. Our last day doing news will be December 10. Anyone in philly hiring?
Good luck guys. I feel ya, WB here in Birmingham has 12 days left before the CBS takes over our news. It's like senior dead week.

Didn't WB17 in Philly already get a lot of video from WCAU?

yes, we (WB 17 Philly) would get some video from 'cau. Usually only 2 or 3 stories a night.....but we would usually give them 2 of our stories a night also.
Our desks would work together also.

I am one of those who works at WCAU. When I saw the e-mail from the GM yesterday, I almost shot my pants. I feel for you guys and gals at WB. I know a few of the daysiders at WB and it upsets me that a lot of people are going to lose jobs. I wonder how many people my station will hire from WB. We don't even have a sat truck for you to operate, satop. :(
