This was just sent to me from Christian...

Hi Kevin, I just had a rather touchy email from our friend Mr Rosenblum It seems my article has upset him. He has accused me of being factually incorrect. I am not a member of your forum so just thought id drop you a quick line to let you know that my article is correct. Rosenblum trains journalists from regional news rooms (and the quality of there programming reflects that) he has not yet been able to convert network news to his way of thinking and I for one pray that it stays that way. Thanks Kev and take care. Chris.

4 grades of shooter.
That is a great idea.
Imagine a career goal to shoot for inside of the field, as opposed to the self imposed ones that gain no real orginazational recognition.

Good article.

It's this kind of offering at B-Roll Online that keeps me coming back.

Thanks to Christian for taking the time and making it worthwhile to read.

My favorite part...

"The adrenaline was pumping. Eventually I reached the pub near the scene where the Police were containing the media."

Those cops know how to keep the media "informed" and under control. Have another one for me after work tonight.

Top article Chris... I've had the pleasure of working with him both at ITN and at the BBC.

As for the Rosenblum thing... don't get me started on that project! Well, okay then just a quick rant! I am incredibly proud to be a network cameraman and love what I do and I'm more than willing to help, educate, mentor and coach up and coming camera talent, but it's courses like his (Rosenblum) that get managment teams all excited when he comes into an organisation and says he can turn anybody and everybody into a cameraman. You can't. I'm sorry, but you can't. It's like playing the Harp - you can either do it or you can't and no amount of teaching can change that. I agree with Chris about the quality of the items shot using the Rosenblum technique (called PDP - personal desktop production or as the crews here call it pretty dire pictures). It sticks out like a sore thumb, especially when an item runs between two packages shot on a real camera, by a real crew and edited by a craft editor. I have the utmost respect for the journalists - they do what they do better than I ever could and the same applies to what I do.
It's de-valuing our profession!
Anyway, rant over.... I'm off for a beer and a lie down!

I hear Rosenblums newest venture is training executive producers to take over the roles of the likes of Steven Speilberg and Francis Ford Coppola. In the new course the executive producer will be able to direct, operate the camera, set up the lighting, carry all the equipment around and act out the roles of every character in the film.
