I was looking for a good station to work for in Florida, preferably Orlando or Tampa Bay. Anyone got any advice what station to look into or not to look into? Any advice will help!

Bay News Nine in Tampa has 8 bureaus and any decent photog with experience can get an offer but they may try to low ball you in the low 20's stick to your guns and you can get 30 and after OT you will have 40, the dominant station in that market is the NBC affiliate....WINK in Ft. Myers is looking for a photog or two and will start you around 24, they are also the dominant station in that market...both are bueatiful places to live...much nicer than Orlando

I make almost 30 where i am now. I need to make at least 40 to justify moving. Are there stations where you can make more than 20-30?

For that kind ouf dough you want to go to Miami - the only problem I have with Miami is that it is ALL run and gun, there is no style and no time for style, that is not my bag but it may work for you. Also shop around Tampa, it is worth a shot - you may be able to pull 40 depending on you.

Miami is your best bet! I loved my time there. Just not having gear. I think they have fixed that now. And yes they do have a style. Its up to you to do your!!!! Own style. You can take time to use a pod! I did when I was there. You just need to be able to run with it or flexible to go off it. Some spot news is dead by the time you get there. So why not use it. And some in Miami when you get there is still going on!
I found working at WSVN it was all me. They would let you do what you wanted! It was a great shop to play and learn. It is a sweat shop! You will run your ass off there. But for the most part you will learn how to do news with the best of them!

Anyone know of any non-shooting job opportunities in Miami??
Not on air stuff, but maybe behind the scenes or writing or whatever??
Thanks in advance for your help!!

I hear that there are a COUPLE of stations in West Palm Beach that have openings -- they just haven't listed them yet.
Get on it!
what's going on with the sports photog/reporter opening at WINK?
What is the news scene like in Ft. Myers? What about the shooting ability? Do they try to be like Miami?
How is the sports photography in Ft. Myers also?
