I just got back from a press screening of Revenge Of The Sith in Westwood and all I can say is - AWESOME. As a die hard Star Wars fan I (like many) was disapointed with Episodes I and II, but Episode III in my opinion is better than Return Of The Jedi and third in my book to the original Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. The acting was still a little stiff on the part of Hayden Christianson, Natalie Portman but overall their perfomances were good. The effects are the best of the three new episodes by far. The first 15 minutes is among the best sequences I have seen in an action/adventure movie. Of course this all just my opinion, but from the reaction of the audience, I would say many agreed with me. So that is my Ebert post for the day! Oh, and another cool thing, Jack Black was sitting a few rows behind us.

"Wait, isn't Clerks one of your favorite movies?"
"Yes."
"Okay, your argument is forfeit."
Looking forward to 3.

I never got the appear of Star Wars...
Of course my earliest memory of it was when I have 2 and I saw Jabba The Hut eating a man alive... That might have something to do with it...

I think a lot of the people who gripe about 1 and 2 forget that they saw 4, 5, and 6 as kids and that they're really sort of kids movies. Perosnally I liked 1 and 2 (I didn't even mind Jar Jar) but I went in expecting them to be kids films.
I loved the fight seen with Yoda in 2. I yelled out "Bite him in the kneecaps!" to much laughter in the theatre.

The rest of you ENJOY!! BIRDY...just a heads up for your kid...I hear this film has some pretty violent scenes in it...dismemberment and other graphic stuff...apparently it's supposed to be the most violent of them all. For what it's worth. :)

In fact, my favorite part of seeing the re-release of Episode 4 in the theaters a few years back was a dialogue near the beginning:
Uncle Owen: "Luke, have these droids cleaned by dinner."
Luke: "But I was gonna go to Tashi station and pick up some power convertors!"
Entire theater of movie-goers: "Awww!"
People who nit-pick and complain about these movies fail to realize they're supposed to be having fun.

I agree that nostalgia for the original three clouded my judgement of I and II, and now that I have seen Revenge of the Sith, Phantom Menace and Clone Wars seem much better to me. Taken as a whole these three movies are pretty darn good, especially if you are a Star Wars geek.
As for the violence, I would say it wasn't all that extreme. I wouldn't take my five year old to see it, but a nine or ten year old will have a blast. The violence is mainly droid dismemberment, and the few scenes with chopping off of human limbs and heads is shot subtly, no blood gushing or gorey shots or anything like that.

as far as violence goes, my favorite movies when I was like 7 were "Commando," "Terminator" and "Big Trouble in Little China." People freak out too much over violence and nudity in movies and don't freak out enough over drug dealing pimps who murder little old ladies and then steal their cars in order to pick up more drugs, guns, and whores in today's video games. What the hell happened to Pacman, Russian Attack, Contra, Ikari Warriors, Super Mario Bros....games like that? They went the way of the original Nintendo, I guess.
(i know, i know, off topic)
STar Wars ROCKS!! (Back on)

STar Wars ROCKS!! (Back on) Commando, Terminator, and Big Trouble rocked!!! Although recently watching Big Trouble again made me realize how cheesy it really was...damn what growing up does to the imagination...I think I'll never again watch Commando or Running Man just to preserve the memory.

Which version did you see? I do not recall any character in a Star Wars movie eating a man.Unless you count the thing that lives in the sand on Tatooene (SP?) that Jaba wanted to feed Luke to.
All I really want to know before going to see the film is how much (in terms of minutes) is Darth Vader in the movie? I wouldn't mind someone telling me everything that happens. I'd rather know before I see it. email me at m_johnston28@yahoo.com if you don't mind telling me.
