the importance of timecode

so brought in a new client today to do a multicam edited show.

the show shoots 12-4, edits 4-6, and feeds out for air at 7.

today was a rehearsal. client brought in camera isos and line record from the last show to play-edit with, with NON MATCHING TIMECODE.

I hate math, especially drop-fram math.

Timecode?? You don't need timecode anymore, it's all about the story! (joking, of course).

Yeah I had to find spots on the linecut where the other cameras had been taken, then match frame the other tracks, subtract and find the differences to get a zero point. And of course then theres the drop frame thing.

And I just took my DF calculator home because it hasn't gotten use in a blue moon.
