A Freelance Photographer Is Under Arrest, Accused Of Starting The Leona Valley Fire Himself

LOS ANGELES — A freelance videographer accused of setting a 5,000- acre Bouquet Canyon-Leona Valley fire last Sept. 3 that destroyed four homes and cost an estimated $2 million to extinguish is expected in court Monday.

Joshua Harville, 23, was booked for arson and held on $250,000 bail following his arrest yesterday afternoon, said Harry Drucker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The investigation is being conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Forestry, Drucker said.

The blaze, which took about three days to control, involved more than 1,200 firefighters, along with helicopter crews, U.S. Forest Service air tankers and two SuperScooper fixed-wing aircraft.

The blaze broke out near Spunky Canyon Road in Bouquet Canyon and spread to Leona Valley.

Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion during the suppression effort.

I do not think that he makes us look like geeks at all. He is just a person and it does not state if he was on the job at the time the fire started. Think of it this way...we do the same thing to other people and we are fine with it. There are a billion photogs and freelance people so this to shal pass. No one got killed so oh well. Let him burn.

and the running joke between photogs in the field, arson investigators, assingment deskies, reporters, fire fighters and local cops is: so did you start it? or did you burn down another building, or you got any matches back there... They are gonna watch all the freelancers a little more closely, but there have been cases of fire fighters setting fires too.
