Yesterday was my last day at my station. I am now preparing for a 1300 mile move across the country with my wife and two cats to begin a new phase in our lives in South Carolina.

We both have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of our friends. It makes leaving a bit sad.

Anyone care to share their experiences when you left a city full of friends?

What part of South Carolina are you moving to? I just moved down to Myrtle Beach about a month ago from Denver and i'm loving it down here. It was also very hard for me to leave Denver because that's where all my family and friends were, but I know that I needed to move to get the experience to move back up. I hope that everything goes well for you.

Hey ftbal02freak I also moved from Colorado to SC. I am in the Upstate at WSPA where eaglewolf will be working. Glad to hear your adjusting OK on the coast, It was a bit harder to get use to the upstate.

I just moved from Myrtle beach to Las Vegas. Left a few friends behind. Most of them have moved on too though. Are you working at a station in myrtle beach freak? Oh yea, Go Cocks.

My Friend:
Seven years ago actually almost 8 now, I left a shop back east that I had worked at for 10 years. It was a difficult thing for my family, moving clear across Canada, especially for my daughter.
The toughest thing for me was leaving my coworkers. Our Bureau had 6 people in the news dept. (3 Reporters and 3 Camera/Editors). These guys and gals were like family to me. And to this day I still miss working with them.
But with that said, I don't regret for a second making the move.
My daughter has been given an education that she would not have recieved back in the Maritimes. My wife was able to revieve her career, my son barely remembers the move.
There will always be things that you will miss, but the the new things you experience in a new place will outweigh the things you miss.
It's tough at first getting the lay of new surroundings. For some people they take a long time to get into their comfort zone. For me it didn't take long. I am sure it will be the same for you.
I wish you both well in your new surroundings, and a tip from this "Eastern-er" : The seafood is much better on the Atlantic Coast, well except for maybe the Salmon,,,,
Safe travels

I myself have just finished my last day at WICS in Springfield here. I begin anew in Las Vegas a week from Wednesday. I have a 1700 mile voyage ahead of me, so I beat the origional poster, but Where's The Audio has me beat. :P

Leaving for a new station is bitter sweet. It's sad to leave your friends behind, and I can say that I would consider some of the people I worked with friends.

But I also realize that I am moving upward, on to new challanges, new friends, and better oppertunity.

That's the nature of the beast. We're nomads, moving on till we can't move anymore.

When I was younger, I left my 1st station for a better opportunity. I was pretty emotional about leaving.

But as the years/promotions/layoffs passed, I've learned that moving is a part of our business. So many people have come & gone for me that I'm pretty much immune to it all now.

Life goes on. The co-workers you leave behind will also be moving on shortly. And since it's such an incestual business, chances are you're probably gonna run into them again--but you'll find out that they've changed...you've changed...and that life and the endless pkg's/live-shots go on.
