Did anybody else here have a chance to watch the inauguration on NBC. I sat down to watch it with a still photog buddy of mine today. We both noticed that whoever was switching, seemed to think it would be best to cut to somthing else every three words durring the swearing in speach. There were actually a couple of cuts that looked like flash frames they were so quick. I am all for protest and know that not everybody likes the guy but come on at least give me the sezure warning first. I know some of the people here probially were working there so im just curious what gives or better is there a back story here.

I noticed that on ABC, they had a couple of cameras that seemed to have extra long lenses. Those cameras squashed the image and made the President's car look twice as wide. What's up with that??? It wasn't a compression issue...

What stood out the most to me was how incredibly SHAKY some of the shots looked. I mean, seriously...how hard is it to get ONE stable platform, and reserve it for the "main" cameras (or at least for the people who know how to shoot without stomping around)?

Did you see how tall the camera platform was? And how windy it was? And how far away they were? No suprise to me things were shaky.

In reference to the problem of the quick cuts in the production...that tends to happen when you switching from a Pool feed to your own cameras...in situations like these there is a pool feed that is shared by all the networks...then they suppliment that covergage with some of there own cameras...often for cutaways etc....the problem is sometimes you get caught when the pool feed is switching their shots when you have just switched out of yours....hope that helps...
