Resume Tape

I just had a quick question about making a resume tape. If your applying for something other than news, something like a half hour show, is it ok to have a longer tape. I have a story on my tape that is almost 8 minutes long, but it's a great story and i thought it would show that i can do more than just a 1:30 story. With the 8 minute story and a 4 minute story ( same reporter, she has issues), by the time i get a couple of other stories on there it's 18:30. If i explain things in my cover letter, is this still too long?

You should submit material that is most in line with the job you're trying to get.

If you're trying to get a job shooting and/or editing a half-hour show, you SHOULD be submitting your longer-form pieces. The whole point of a resume tape is to show that you can do the work.
